This Privacy Policy explains how Vylok (“Vylok”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use our iOS application.
By using Vylok, you agree to the collection and use of information described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
Vylok collects only the information needed to provide the app’s core features.
Account Information
We may collect:
- Email address
- Name, if you choose to provide it
- User ID or account identifier
We use this information to create and manage your account, identify your account in the app, provide access to your data, and send service-related messages such as password reset or account-related emails.
Expense Information
When you use Vylok, we may store information you enter into the app, including:
- Expense names
- Expense amounts/prices
- Expense categories
This information is used to provide expense tracking, category organization, and app functionality.
AI Input Text
Vylok includes an optional AI expense recognition feature. When you choose to use this feature, you may enter free-form text describing an expense.
The AI input text may include information such as:
- Expense title or description
- Expense amount or price
- Currency
- Category-related details
- Store, merchant, or other details you choose to type
The text you enter may contain personal data if you choose to include it. You should avoid entering sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for your own use of the app.
Subscription and Purchase Information
Vylok offers paid features through Apple In-App Purchases.
We may process subscription-related information, including:
- Subscription status
- Purchase history
- Product identifiers
- Subscription expiration or renewal status
- Access rights to paid features
Payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store your full payment card details.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the app
- Create and manage your account
- Store and display your expenses
- Organize expenses by category
- Use optional AI expense recognition to convert user-entered text into structured expense data, such as title, amount, currency, and category
- Provide subscription-based features
- Verify access to paid features
- Restore purchases
- Send password reset or account-related service messages
- Improve app reliability and security
- Detect and fix technical issues
We do not use your email address for marketing emails.
3. Third-Party Services
Vylok uses third-party services that may process limited information as needed to operate the app.
Apple App Store / In-App Purchases
Apple processes payments and subscriptions through the App Store. We may receive limited purchase and subscription information from Apple in order to verify access to paid features.
RevenueCat
We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions, validate purchases, restore purchases, and determine access to paid features.
RevenueCat may process subscription-related information, app user identifiers, purchase history, product identifiers, and related technical information needed to provide subscription management services.
Firebase
We use Firebase services provided by Google to support app functionality, authentication, database/backend infrastructure, app reliability, and/or analytics depending on the app configuration.
Firebase may process technical information such as app identifiers, device information, app events, crash reports, or usage data depending on which Firebase services are enabled.
Anthropic
We use Anthropic to provide the optional AI expense recognition feature.
When you choose to use AI expense recognition, Vylok sends the free-form text you type into the AI input field to Anthropic for the purpose of converting that text into structured expense data, such as expense title, amount, currency, and category.
The following information may be sent to Anthropic:
- The text you type into the AI input field
- Expense-related details included in that text, such as amount, currency, category, merchant, store, or description
Vylok does not intentionally send your email address, name, user ID, account identifier, device identifier, purchase information, or subscription information to Anthropic as part of the AI expense recognition request.
The AI input text is sent to Anthropic only to provide the AI expense recognition feature. The app asks for your permission before sending the text to Anthropic.
4. Analytics
Vylok may use Firebase to understand app performance, improve reliability, and analyze general app usage.
We do not use analytics data to identify individual users for advertising purposes.
5. Advertising and Tracking
Vylok does not show ads.
Vylok does not sell your personal data.
Vylok does not use your data for cross-app tracking or cross-context behavioral advertising.
Vylok does not use advertising SDKs or remarketing tools.
6. Service Emails
We may send service-related emails, including:
- Password reset emails
- Account verification emails
- Important account or security notices
- Subscription or service-related messages
We do not send marketing emails.
7. Data Sharing
We may share limited information with service providers only when necessary to operate the app, including Apple, RevenueCat, Firebase, Anthropic, and backend/cloud infrastructure providers.
When you use the optional AI expense recognition feature, we may share the text you type into the AI input field with Anthropic only for the purpose of recognizing expense details and converting the text into structured expense data.
We require service providers that process personal data on our behalf to use appropriate safeguards and process the data only for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy or as otherwise permitted by applicable law.
We may also disclose information if required by law, legal process, or a valid government request.
We do not sell your personal data.
8. Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as necessary to provide the app, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
Expense data is stored while your account is active or until you delete it or request deletion, unless we are legally required to keep certain information for a longer period.
9. Account and Data Deletion
You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us.
When your account is deleted, we will delete or anonymize personal data associated with your account, unless we are required to retain certain information for legal, security, fraud prevention, accounting, or compliance reasons.
10. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information.
However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.
11. Children’s Privacy
Vylok is not intended for children under the age of 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13, we will take reasonable steps to delete that information.
12. Legal Bases for Processing for EEA and UK Users
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your personal data based on one or more of the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract, when processing is necessary to provide the app and its features
- Legitimate interests, such as maintaining app security, preventing misuse, and improving reliability
- Legal obligations, when we are required to retain or process certain information by law
